Strategic SOCEX 2017

15 May -16 May 2017 Carden Park, Near Chester

Mr. Mick CreedonI am delighted to invite you to the third annual Serious and Organised Crime Conference, SOCEX, which this year will be held at the attractive venue of Carden Park in Cheshire.

The theme for this year’s event is an important one, ‘SOC, the harm and effect on communities’, and within this theme we will look at a range of threat areas. These include the threat from Organised Crime Groups who impose community governance through coercion and other means, the acceptance of organised crime in our communities via ‘victimless’ crimes like the smuggling of tobacco, and the harm that this activity can do via criminal and terrorist fundraising.

We will also explore harm and community impact through various other SOC enabled threat areas, such as drug trafficking, Cyber Crime, Fraud and Modern Slavery. I am pleased to announce that a number of national leads have agreed to speak to us at the conference, along with many of those who continue to heavily influence the national conversation in some of these areas through legal, academic and political means.

Speakers will include CC Mike Barton, Commander Simon Bray, CC Shaun Sawyer, Caroline Haughey, Commander David Clarke, DCC Peter Goodman, Professors Paolo Campana and Federico Varese, Kevin Newe, Dr Manny Barot, DG Lynne Owens and Sir Ronnie Flanagan, with a Home Office Ministerial address to open.

The two day event is made possible by the generous support of founding partner Altia Solutions Ltd., together with other business partners and there will be opportunities for delegates to explore the very real solutions that these partners are offering and supplying to the wider law enforcement community.

This event has directly led to positive change in our approach to SOC in recent years, and I have even seen some of that change in my own organisation, there is no other event that brings together the issues, the thinking and the solutions in such a way and at this level.

I hope you will be able to join us and I would ask that in the first instance you confirm your attendance by contacting the event organiser,

Martin Jack
