Fraud & Financial Crime Conference Welcome

Many SOC threats are financially motivated and as such we must collectively focus efforts to respond to illicit finance and whilst technology, the movement of people, money and the changing cyber world offer opportunities to the criminal, they also offer opportunities to those seeking to tackle the problem.

On behalf of the conference organising committee I would like to welcome you to this year’s annual conference which is the third economic crime event under the serious organised crime exchange (SOCEX) brand and represents the UK’s largest law enforcement gathering of this type. This convention is an event that continues to grow in both volume and reputation and this year we welcome 30 speakers and over 350 delegates representing UK law enforcement.

Many SOC threats are financially motivated and as such we must collectively focus efforts to respond to illicit finance and whilst technology, the movement of people, money and the changing cyber world offer opportunities to the criminal, they also offer opportunities to those seeking to tackle the problem.  In order to identify appropriate presentations the organising committee reach out to the law enforcement community operating in this business area, to request subject and themes identified as being of interest, or something that could support operational delivery.  You will see from the agenda that yet again those responses have led to a comprehensive mixture of subjects and speakers covering a diversity of topics specifically designed to be informative and thought-provoking for those operating in the economic crime business area.

Economic crime covers a wide area and from the feedback received from previous events it is clear that the annual conference is widely recognised as providing a significant learning environment enhancing delegates operational capability within the workplace. Some of the workshop presentations are intentionally sector specific so please take time to ensure attendance at the event most likely to be of most benefit in your given field of operation.

Organising an event of this scale is not without its challenges and I would like to thank Martin Jack and Think Different Events team and the multiagency organising committee. Equally as important is the role of the sponsors who continue to support the event and ensure the conference does not become cost prohibitive so please find time to engage with them.

Please remember this is your conference and is important you share feedback positive and negative to ensure we continue to deliver the best event possible.
